  1. Thank you for reaching out to us! Your grandson would need to take a refresher course. We do these the first Sunday of every month. Refreshers are $95. Refresher courses are done at the YWCO pool in Athens. We will spend several hours on Sunday evening in the pool. In the Refresher we will remind your grandson how to assemble his gear, complete the basic skills, and answer any other questions he might have.   2. My grandson who is 15 yrs old is a certified Junior Open Water Diver. He has his certificate which he obtained in Virginia Beach. Due to circumstances beyond his control he does not have his record book and has not been under water for 3+ yrs. He recently expresses an interest to resume diving and I need to know what he will be required to in order to dive again?

  3. Hello, thank you for contacting Dolphin Dive Center. We teach the Open Water Diver class each month. The first weekend of the month is classroom session from 1:00 – 4:30pm and pool session from 6:30 – 9:00pm (both Saturday and Sunday) at either the YWCO or YMCA. The third weekend of the month is open water checkout dives both Saturday and Sunday. Location of these dives varies by season. The cost of certification is currently 3 payments of $375. Payment 1 is for course material, classroom and pool sessions. Payment 2 is for wet suit, mask, fins, snorkel. Payment 3 is for open water checkout dives. Should you choose to pursue your certification, please give yourself sufficient time to complete all online material prior to the first class.   6. Hey there! I just signed up recently for a study abroad trip with my school to Belize in the summer next year. The class is tropical reef ecology and we were told that if we are a certified diver than we would be allowed to scuba dive. One day of the trip is visiting the “Great Blue Hole” off the coast which we are also allowed to scuba dive if we are certified. Which classes should I take and how long would it take me to be certified and of course how much would it cost.

  8. Hello Jay! Thanks so much for checking out our website and leaving a message. The holidays are a crazy time, and we apologize for the lag in response time. Our upcoming Open Water Certification Class is next Saturday and Sunday, January 9 & 10. We offer the course every first weekend of the month, unless that coincides with a holiday as it did this weekend.
